Our Mission

We are here to create a coalition. We will elect the next Mayor of the City of Birmingham, Alabama. We will create a vibrant democracy. Coalition members, having shown a history of support for coalition causes, grassroots involvement, and local activism, will identify and cultivate a new generation of leaders whose political legacy will be built on a grassroots oriented mission with direct community involvement and familiarity with the principles of grassroots activism.

The Coalition Objectives shall include:

  • Elect Representative Leaders
  • Implement New Progressive Ideas
  • Promote transparency and accountability in local government
  • Foster an Information Sharing Collective
  • Usher in a new generation of Black leadership in predominately black areas
  • Empower local residents, facilitate self-determination, and return power to the people

Resolution: In creating a broad, diverse coalition of leaders, we must yield, to some degree, to structure for the good of the collective and to further the pursuit of our common objectives. With that said, we shall operate under egalitarian[1] principles and we shall further reject authoritarian[2] practices and ideologies. Stated differently, all participants shall check their crowns at the door and enter the coalition as servants. The stated resolution is necessary to assist the productive movement of the collective body and promote a rhythm of respect for all individual members of the body. We must first be the change we seek to create.
